Microsoft Adds Portrait Mode To PowerPoint IOS App
Microsoft this week added the ability to create portrait mode slides in PowerPoint for iOS.
This feature is currently available in public beta for Office Insiders on iPhones and iPads running version 2.68 or higher.
Ekta Dwivedi, PowerPoint Mobile Product Manager, blogged: "After creating mobile content, we heard that many of you prefer to work in portrait mode" (opens in a new window) . "Based on your feedback, we've added the ability to toggle portrait mode on and off when creating and editing slides."
To get started, iOS Insiders can open an existing presentation or create a new one, then go to the Home (iPhone) or Design (iPad) tab and select the Orientation option (hidden behind the Design menu on iPhone). Then, select the Portrait option and watch the slide in focus change from landscape to portrait, ready to edit.
Portrait mode, as reported by The Verge (opens in new window) , has been popularized by social networks, where it is often used in the native portrait mode of phones. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and even YouTube are all serious about offering videos to reach more users.

It is not yet known whether and when this feature will appear on Android devices. According to Dwivedi, "features are released over a period of time to keep things running smoothly".
"Sometimes we remove items based on your feedback to make them better," he explains. "While this is extremely rare, we reserve the right to completely remove the feature from the product even if [insiders] have the opportunity to try it."
