Vivo has a powerful new foldable smartphone on the way, which was recently spotted on Geekbench and the 3C certification site. The device in question is called the Vivo X Fold S and is an update to the Vivo X Fold.

Vivo X Fold was announced earlier this year, in February. It arrived with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. This device never reached global markets, but hopefully its successor will.

Vivo's powerful new foldable model recently appeared on Geekbench and 3C.

Vivo X Fold S will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Geekbench has confirmed it. The device was released with the model number "V2229A". It scored 1319 points in single-core tests and 4045 points in multi-core tests.

This particular model comes with 12GB of RAM, although multiple RAM and storage options may be available. The listing also states that Android 12 will come pre-installed on the device.

Vivo's next foldable model has also received 3C certification in China. This certification confirmed that the device will support fast charging, specifically 80W wired fast charging.

In a separate post, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station revealed more information about the device. The Vivo X Fold S will have a 120Hz primary display, although its secondary panel will also offer the same high refresh rate.

The LTPO panel is reserved for the main screen.

However, the primary display will be an LTPO panel and will be able to operate from 1Hz to 120Hz. The tipster also mentioned a 4700mAh battery and an ultrasonic display. The phone will also come with a leather back and a periscope camera.

Note that the Vivo X Fold S will soon be official in China. However, we still don't know if this device will make it to global markets. Chinese OEMs are cautious when it comes to launching their foldable devices outside of China. This is one of the reasons why Samsung completely dominates the global foldable smartphone market.

Some Chinese OEMs are planning to launch their foldable devices globally and we hope Vivo will be one of them.
