Here's How You Can Turn Your Wear OS Smartwatch Into A Floating Mouse For Your PC

  • WowMouse for Wear OS turns your Wear OS smartwatch into a Bluetooth mouse that you can use to navigate the user interfaces of other devices.
  • The free app works fine on Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6, but not on Pixel Watch 1 and 2.
  • You need to connect your watch to the desired device and run the app on your watch. Move your hand and left click with your fingers to control the mouse movement.

If you use the Android ecosystem, you probably have a decent Wear OS smartwatch on your wrist. Wear OS watches are a great addition to Android smartphones and can do everything from monitoring your health to notifications and calls right on your wrist. If you have a Wear OS smartwatch, you can now use it as a floating mouse for your computer.

YouTuber Snazzy Labs appeared at the Doublepoint booth at CES 2024 to demonstrate its WowMouse app for Wear OS smartwatches. This app turns your Wear OS smartwatch into a Bluetooth mouse and is free to use.

I found @doublepointlab's booth at #CES that turns your WearOS watch into a Bluetooth mouse. All the equipment is ready. It works incredibly well and they are looking for an OEM license to make the software free for end users. It's worth playing! pic.twitter.com/KPv9Xn9g4o

We see it used with an iPad on the screen. We see how the mouse icon on the iPad moves with a hand gesture, and the pinch symbol is used to click. You can grab, swipe and swipe with clicks at the right time.

Mishaal Rahman notes that the app works for Wear OS 2 (and later) smartwatches, but not Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch 2.

On my Galaxy Watch 4 I connect the WowMouse to my Windows desktop via Bluetooth and it works great. The hardest part of setup is using Wear OS to pair the watch with Windows (it's not that difficult, but it is frustrating to navigate on the small screen). Here are the steps:

  • Download the WowMouse app for Wear OS 2 or later smartwatches.
  • On your smartwatch, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and connect to the desired device. You must open the Bluetooth settings on the target device for it to appear as a pairing device.
  • Once paired and connected, launch WowMouse.
  • Set the hand you use the smartwatch with.
  • The interface will be turquoise when the watch is not connected and green when the device is connected.
  • Click the mouse icon on your smartwatch to activate mouse mode. This quick switch is useful when you don't want your hand gestures to be visible, such as when typing.
  • Move your hand to move the mouse over the target device and pinch your fingers to click.

That's it Thanks to Wear OS smartwatches, you can now use your hand gestures to control the mouse.

The app has many settings that you can play with. You can set HID output to left click, space bar or enter. You can also switch from surface touch to surface touch; In my experience, the pinch touch involves a lot of arm and hand movement to move the mouse away from where I want to click.

You may also need to adjust the mouse cursor speed on the target device, as it was too fast for precise movements using my default Windows clock. I recommend wearing the watch on your wrist because it gives more pleasure.

Are you using your Wear OS smartwatch as a daily mouse with these apps?

As Mishal mentioned, other apps like Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse allow you to use your Android smartphone as a trackpad and keyboard. But waving your hand to control the laptop feels more magical. Try it yourself!
