Oppo Find N3 Flip Supports Select Full Apps On Outer Display Including Google Messages
Oppo's new foldable N3 Flip takes advantage of a larger external display and offers native support for more than 80 apps.
Foldable phones have evolved in a certain direction as external screens have become larger and larger. Of course, it's bad to have a great cover ad if you can't do much with it. We saw this with the Galaxy Z Flip 4. While Samsung has since introduced a larger and more useful display, native support is still lacking, and users are forced to turn to the companion app to use non-US Samsung apps.
Oppo's new N3 Flip supports over 80 different apps on the external display, not all from Oppo. In an X/Twitter post, the company showed off the N3 Flip's cover screen with several app icons, five of which look like Google apps.
A surprising but very welcome addition is the Google Messages app, which means the Opp N3 Flip's flip screen can display recent messages and chats. There's no word on the extent of this support, which means we don't yet know if you'll be able to write and send messages using an external display.
It's hard to say how Oppo will integrate these apps one way or another, but it's clear that it will be limited to a slim but tall form factor.
The Find N3 Flip launched in China last month, but the device has yet to make it to the United States or anywhere else. The latest information suggests that Oppo will launch the N3 Flip later this month, although this is not specific. The Find N3 Flip will have a new MediaTek SoC and a powerful camera, in addition to the Alert SLdier that OnePlus has become known for.
