Vivo has announced its second-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo Xfold 2. Technically, this is the company's third foldable smartphone, but the Vivo Xfold+ is a mid-range device.

In any case, Vivo X Fold 2 brings several improvements before its predecessor, and one of the most important is its weight. This thing is much lighter than the Vivo X Fold 2. It weighs 311 grams and this one weighs 278 grams. It's still heavy, but keep in mind that this is a large foldable phone.

The foldable Vivo X Fold 2 is now official and looks like the company's "regular" flagship

Vivo X Fold 2 was launched in China and we are not sure if it will reach many markets at the moment. The device actually looks like a cousin of the flagship Vivo X90 series that the company announced recently.

It's also a flagship phone, but foldable. We'll talk about that in a moment, let's take a quick look at the design. As seen in the available images, this device has a vegan skin on the back. It has a circular camera island on the back, with ZEISS optics on board. It has a flat and metal frame.

Vivo X Fold 2 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC and also has 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 flash memory. So, Vivo doesn't lose much here.

It has two 120Hz displays, each with a fingerprint scanner

The main display is an 8.03-inch and Samsung E6 AMOLED QHD+ (2160 x 1916) panel. It is an LTPO display and offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HDR10+ is supported, as is Dolby Vision, and the screen can reach a peak of 1,800 nits.

The second panel is a 6.53-inch FullHD+ (2520 x 1080) unit. It's also a Samsung E6 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This panel reaches a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits.

120W wired charging is included, as is 50W wireless charging

There is a 4800 mAh battery. The device supports 120W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging, by the way, wireless charging is part of the package.

Android 13 with OriginOS 3 from China is pre-installed on the device. It will get Vivo's Funtouch OS if launched globally. There are two fingerprint scanners listed here, one for each of the phone's screens. By the way, this is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The phone supports two SIM card slots (2x nano-SIM) and 5G (SA/NSA) connectivity. Bluetooth 5.3 is indeed included in the box.

You will find an interesting triple camera on the back with ZEISS optics

50-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX866 sensor, f/1.75 aperture, OIS, ZEISS T* coating, V2 chip) with 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (Sony IMX633 sensor, 108-degree field of view, f/2.0 aperture) on the back on. The third camera on the back is a 12MP fixed telephoto lens (f/1.98 aperture). It houses a single 16MP selfie camera (f/2.45 aperture) on both screens.

Vivo X Fold 2 measures 161.29 x 143.43 x 5.95 mm unfolded and 161.29 x 73.42 x 12.9 mm when folded. Note that this applies to the black model, while the red and blue models are slightly thicker at 13.2mm. By the way, these three color options are available on this phone. Officially, the colors are called Shadow Black, China Red and Azure Blue.

The Vivo X Fold 2 models are priced at CNY 8,999 ($1,380) and CNY 9,999 ($1,455) in China. Both models have 12 GB of RAM, but different storage sizes (256 GB and 512 GB).
