This OPPO Rollable Phone Design Hides Cameras By Default
It looks like OPPO is planning to launch a budget phone as the company has patented a device that hides the camera. Confused? OK, I'll explain.
A new patent for the OPPO design has arrived at CNIPA China. As you know, that doesn't mean anything, because tech companies are always filing patents. However, it is quite interesting and may become a real device in the future.
This OPPO flip phone hides its camera by default
If you look at the image below the article, you will understand what I mean. The camera of this device is hidden when plugged in. When fully extended, the rear camera opens.
The device looks great when rolled up, but has one big drawback... you won't be able to take a picture unless you stretch it out. It goes without saying that it is not the most functional solution, although it is aesthetic. The camera is also well protected in these conditions, so that's a plus.
You'll also notice the absence of a front-facing camera. We assume that OPPO has provided an under-display camera for this phone, which makes sense from a design perspective. Phones go to great lengths to hide rear cameras, so why not do the same with their predecessors?
All the physical buttons are on the right side of this phone. At the bottom you can see the Type-C port along with the speaker. Below are some pictures showing the phone unfolded and folded.
The company has announced a foldable phone, but it's only a functional concept device.
Some of you may remember another case from OPPO. At the end of 2020, the company unveiled the OPPO X 2021. It was the company's rotating device concept, but fully functional.
OPPO never made it commercially available to overcome some hurdles. Apparently, the device wasn't ready for prime time yet. However, almost two and a half years have passed since then and we expect the first commercially available rotating smartphone to be launched in the near future. Will OPPO release it? Time will tell.
The design of this OPPO flip phone hides the camera by default, which appears in the Android title.
