Here's Another Look At How Android May 'Link Your Devices'
  • Earlier this month, Google tested a "Pair Your Device" feature that works similarly to Apple's "Consistency" feature.

  • Users of the same Google Account on Android devices can share useful features

  • The new leak shows additional expected features beyond "call replacement".

A few weeks ago, we saw that Google was working on a new "Pair Your Device" feature that would allow users to share calls between Android devices, as long as they're signed into the same Google account. New leaks now reveal that the feature will include additional options like instant hotspot, automatic WiFi sharing and more.

For the uninitiated, Link Your Devices is a new feature that allows users to group their Android devices together as long as they're connected to the same Google account. These clustered devices can connect and use multiple device services as needed. New findings posted by user X AssembleDebug (via Android Police ) indicate that these features will be included in the Link section of your devices.

This includes features like Instant Hotspot, which when enabled allow users to connect to the internet between devices with the same Google account. Additionally, Android device users can automatically share Wi-Fi without entering a password. Users who want to make Instant Hotspot inaccessible to others can confuse their username and password.

Finally, Internet Sharing is another feature that works on Chromebooks and Android devices connected to a single Google account. The device works via Bluetooth connection. This feature was seen earlier this month along with a new "call switching" innovation that allows users to switch from one continuous "paired" call to another.

Apple has long offered a similar feature called persistence. Features like internet sharing, Wi-Fi sharing and call forwarding are popular for iPhone, Mac and iPad. Hopefully, the official launch of Connect Your Devices will be available soon. After playback, users can go to Settings > Google > Devices & sharing to start connecting their devices under one roof.
