Customize Your Minecraft Experience By Installing A Creeperload Of Mods
You've been developing your Minecraft world for some time. You have a full diamond shield, a field full of pumpkins and watermelons next to your lake castle, and you just defeated an ender dragon. But reaching the end is not necessarily the end. If you want to increase your creativity and maximize your gaming experience, you can easily add a few or dozens of mods.
Seasoned gamers will remember how difficult it was to add mods to Minecraft in the early days. The process is manual and time consuming. For me, I spent days, if not weeks, of my teenage years searching the web for the latest version of dark mods, waiting for downloads, and rummaging through configuration folders. Today, thanks to modern mod platforms, everything is automated.
Whether you are new to how to install Minecraft mods or you need an upgrade, this guide will help you get the best user-made add-ons or mods for this popular sandbox game. However, if you encounter a guard in complete darkness, you are alone.
Install CurseForge

There are lots of mods out there like Technic Launcher and Feed The Beast, but I prefer CurseForge. It is one of the most useful and has various mods and modifications to fulfill your gaming dreams. CurseForge is free for Windows, Mac and Linux and you can install it directly from your browser.
After installation, CurseForge will ask you to select a game for mods and add-ons. Right now, you want Minecraft , but the platform also offers mod options for other popular games like The Sims 4 , World of Warcraft , and Elder Scrolls .
Create your own modpack or install to play
Modpack is exactly what it sounds like: a collection of different mods. When video game mods came out, players didn't want to be limited to using only one at a time, so they started using several at a time. CurseForge offers thousands of modpacks ready for quick installation, and you can browse modpacks and their descriptions in the Browse Modpacks section. There you can search for a specific modpack using keywords or filter by game version and categories like magic, science fiction, or technology. If you really only want to play with one system, that's also an option. Just search in Browse Modpacks or create a unique modpack by following the steps below.
To create your own modpack with a unique modpack, click Create Custom Profile in the top-right corner of the CurseForge window. Profile name is your modpack name. After you get this set, you have to choose the game version. Note that user-developed mods may take some time to catch up to the latest version of Minecraft . At the time of writing, most mods have been updated to at least version 1.12.2. If you have one or more specific mods, you can search for the latest version online or in the CurseForge desktop app and select the version of Minecraft that best suits your needs.
Now that you've created your modpack, it's time to add some mods. Click the three vertical dots next to the orange play button and select the puzzle piece labeled "Add more content" from the drop-down menu. The puzzle piece icon on the right will take you to the same page. Here you can search for mods by name and sort them by version and update categories. If you find one you want to add, click the Install button . Continue installing the mod until you are satisfied with the combination.
Be careful not to add more than your computer can handle. Computers designed for gaming can handle hundreds, but older or lighter laptops can handle 15 to 20 at a time without crashing.
You can also add texture and resource packs in the Add more content resource packs section. This changes the game's graphics, including the lighting and appearance of blocks, objects, and mobs. Here you will find a colorblind resource pack that makes the game more realistic with tweaks like rounded tree trunks, shadows and translucent windows.

When you're ready to add mods and play, exit the Add more content window and click the orange play button . This will open the Minecraft launcher. Make sure you are using the Java version . In the lower left corner where your Minecraft version is, you will see the name of your modpack. Press the green power button as usual. You will receive a warning that the mod may not support the latest security features (such as parental controls, community guidelines, and chat management). If there are no issues, go ahead and press Play .
That's it, you've just created and launched your first modpack. Enjoy your game! If you want to play with friends, keep reading.
Share your modpack with your friends
If you want to play Minecraft mode with friends in multiplayer, they will have to install your modpack on CurseForge. You can easily download and install the modpack by following the instructions below.
To export your modpack, click the three vertical dots next to the orange Play button on CurseForge, and choose Export Profile .
This will take you to the export window where you can edit the file name and version label (optional) and select the files you want to include (the default should work fine). Then click the orange "Export" button and the file will be saved to the file location of your choice.
Your modpack will be saved as a ZIP file that you can email to your friends, as a link to a cloud drive, in iMessage if you both have macOS, or via some other method of file sharing.
If your modpack.zip file is very large, or you have a slow internet connection, we recommend saving it to a USB drive the old fashioned way, or recreating it with a friend in your CurseForge account. Repeat the steps in the previous section.

When you enter the modpack name and game version in the Create custom profile window, you may see an option at the top called "Or import a previously created profile". Once your friend has the ZIP file, they can click "Import" on the sentence and download the ZIP file from their computer. This will create a duplicate on CurseForge, which can be played alone or on a modified multiplayer server.
However, note that the same multiplayer mode is required for all players to play. If players add or remove mods from their pack, the game will block players from accessing the server due to incompatibility. You don't want to miss out on traversing the new dimension with your friends because one of you doesn't have the mod.
