Samsungs Apple Studio Display Rival Just Got Even Better, Plus Its Cheaper
Samsung has announced a new version of its rival Apple Studio Display. The Samsung M8 2023 Smart Monitor has received several upgrades and feature upgrades from the previous generation.
Apple's South Korean competitor Studio Display offers 4K resolution with HDR10+ support and 400 nits of brightness with up to 99% sRGB color gamut, which "brings all content creators' content to life in beautiful color."
Apple's studio display has a Mac-friendly 5K resolution, the new Samsung M8 display is still a good choice, especially since it offers two different screen sizes: 27 inches and 32 inches.
Samsung has also reduced the bezels so that the M1 looks better than the standard iMac. The company claims that this Apple Studio Display rival is ultra-thin, with a flat back panel that is 11.39mm thick. It offers a height-adjustable tilt stand and the screen can be rotated 90 degrees to view long documents in portrait mode. Also, it can be placed on a wall bracket.
The Samsung M8 monitor offers smart TV features like Samsung Gaming Hub and popular streaming apps like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube, and users can connect, control and manage smart devices with the built-in SmartThings hub.
Rival Apple Studio Display offers built-in voice assistants including Bixby and Amazon Alexa. It also has a microphone, offers a detachable magnetic camera with FHD resolution, and offers video conferencing with Google Meet and other apps. It also has a central feature called Auto Frames which keeps users centered in the frame even while moving.
This display can connect wirelessly to Apple devices to display iPhone, iPad and Mac content on the big screen. Samsung has improved the interface of the M8 monitor so that mouse and keyboard controls now work with SmartThings and Smart Hub.
Finally, it offers four doors. Users can fully connect to the smart monitor without an adapter to charge devices, transfer data or use a multi-display setup.
The Samsung M8 display will be available in Warm White, Daylight Blue, Sunset Pink and Spring Green in June. It costs $699.99 for the 32-inch version and $649.99 for the 27-inch version, which is basically 1/3 of what Apple charges for the Studio Display.
