Samsung Is Already Rolling Out May 2023 Update To Galaxy Devices
Samsung used to release the latest security patches monthly in advance. It often starts releasing new security updates a few days before the start of a new month. The Korean hippopotamus has done it again. It started rolling out Android security patch in May 2023 on its Galaxy devices. But, unlike many times in the past, this time the company started with an entry-level model. Galaxy A10e picks SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in May ahead of the flagship model.
The Galaxy A10e May update is currently available for users in Samsung's home country of South Korea. According to SamMobile, the rollout began earlier this week with firmware build number A102NKOS3CWD1. Since May is still a few days away, we don't have any details on the patch. It is not clear what vulnerabilities are fixed in the latest monthly security release for Android devices. As always, there should be dozens of fixes, including some Galaxy fixes that come directly from Samsung.
However, don't expect anything other than the latest security patches. Samsung Galaxy A10e was launched in July 2019. The entry level smartphone is in its final stages now (4th year in the market). Stop receiving major Android updates after Android 11 and will soon stop receiving security patches. It may be SMR's latest update. The 2019 phone is not covered by the Korean company's comprehensive update policy, which promises five years of security updates for Galaxy devices.
However, if you are using the Galaxy A10e, you may get the May update sooner or later. However, this is not guaranteed. Samsung cannot promote May SMR on this phone outside of South Korea. The US version recently received an April update (firmware version A102USQSFCWC3 for carrier-locked devices and A102U1UESFCWD1 for unlocked devices) that never made it to the company's home country. Now the May release may be missing in other markets. As always, you can check for new updates in your phone's Settings app.
The Galaxy A10e may not be getting the May update everywhere, but Samsung will be releasing the latest SMR for other Galaxy devices soon. Although it started with a budget phone, the flagship models are not yet taking priority as they are starting to get more widespread. The Galaxy S23 series should be at the top of that priority list, but not necessarily at the top. We will notify you when these updates are available.
Samsung is already rolling out the May 2023 update for Galaxy devices, which first appeared in Android headlines.
