SA Rugby confirmed on Wednesday that OPPO, one of the world's leading technology brands, has joined the sponsoring family as an official partner and board of directors for Springboks.
The partnership highlights the shared ambition and spirit of victory that will bring technology and sports brands together, bringing together a common spirit to connect fans with fans and improve their experience.
SA Rugby President Mark Alexander said: “We are delighted to welcome OPPO to our family of sponsors as the official mobility partner of SA Rugby and Springboks.
“We are going through difficult times economically and it is great to see companies that are committed to protecting rugby. For us, as one of the largest manufacturers of mobile phones and other electronic devices, communication is very important at SA Rugby.”
Since its founding in 2004, OPPO has sold more than 300 million devices worldwide and is present in more than 50 countries. In the South African market, OPPO has become the official mobile partner of South African Fashion Week along with local football giants Orlando Pirates.
The partnership with Springbox is further evidence of OPPO's commitment to making a significant contribution to the country's economy.
“We are honored and delighted to partner with world leaders in what we believe will be a new progressive chapter in the history of both organizations,” said Abashni Moodley, head of marketing for OPPO South Africa.
“Springbox is an elite global sports brand with a long and proud legacy of success.
“Over the years, the three-time world champions have built an amazing reputation for their relentless pursuit of excellence, which they maintain to this day.
“This partnership embodies everything about the OPPO brand, commitment to excellence and investment in South Africa. Many of the qualities that Springbok are known for; the pursuit of excellence, innovation, high performance and endurance also encourage OPPO to constantly adapt, develop and improve.
“The partnership with Springboks is part of our global sports partnership and reinforces our commitment to inspire and engage consumers through sports. We look forward to continuing our efforts to connect and inspire sports fans around the world."
“Having our name with such an iconic logo is a huge achievement for OPPO. The team is an inspiration to our nation, and OPPO's mission is to help people and fans connect with their team using our latest innovative technologies,” he added.
The alliance represents the core tenet of OPPO's "Inspiration First" brand offering. Despite the diversity of origins and languages, everyone wants to be part of something bigger than themselves, bridging the gap between OPPO's signature brand and its energetic and passionate users.
Moodley explains, "Imagining 'forward motivation' means looking to the future with optimism and believing in a brighter future." It reflects our attitude to the current state of the world. It guides us and serves as our philosophy to solve any problem.”
OPPO believes that Springbok embodies this feeling and represents everything that is expressed in its global positioning - "Inspiration Forward".
“As we are relatively new to the market, this partnership provides us with a great platform to expand our brand in South Africa and let more people know about what OPPO has to offer. We are very excited about the growth potential in the South African market. "Mudley concluded.
