A prominent insider has suggested that the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series could have a brighter display, possibly up to 2,500 nits.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have the brightest screens of any iPhone, but Apple may be upping the ante for the next generation. Due to the change of the display panel, the following brightness can reach up to 2500 nits.
On Tuesday, Leaker Shrimp reposted a post from another scammer known as "Connor" or "OreXda" referring to Applepro Samsung display panels. Samsung Display is a long-time supplier of Apple iPhone displays.
"Samsung's next generation panel at 2500 nits," Connor's original tweet said. The announcer says, "And I still don't know if it's the M13," which would be two generations after the M11 was used in Samsung's newly released Galaxy S23.
ShrimpApplePro added a comment on his Twitter page saying, "It could be on the iPhone 15 Pro Max."
For reference, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a typical maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, 1,600 nits for HDR content and 2,000 nits for outdoor use.
It's also not unusual for Samsung to produce panels with higher brightness levels. For example, it allows an outdoor display to run up to 2,500 nits, although this is for a large screen rather than a compact screen.
It's not clear if this will create a brighter iPhone display than it did. Samsung hasn't yet shown the rumored M13 core display running at this brightness, but it's still a compelling prospect.
Of the two finders involved in this rumor, ShrimpApplePro is the more famous and has a pretty good track record. For example, the Apple Watch Series 8 will not be redesigned, as Shrimp rightly said, but the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro are very special.
"Connor" or "OreXda" have not been mentioned in previous Apple Insider reports because they mainly deal with information about unreleased Android processors and products, not Apple. "Connor" does not refer to Apple at all, because the report is about Samsung's display technology, not about the application, and in this case it is the shrimp that connects with Apple.
