Vivo + IQOO Report Card 2022
Vivo has made quite impressive strides in India with the iQOO in a short span of time and has won the hearts of many in the country due to its good value for money. Both brands saw an increase in the number of smartphones this year compared to 2021. While Vivo launched 9% more devices, iQOO launched 125% more. Overall, both brands launched 27% more devices. Let's take a closer look at how Vivo and iQOO fare in their 2022 Report Card series.
Vivo + iQOO 2022: a numbers game
In 2022, Vivo launched 24 models, while iQOO launched 9 models compared to 4 models last year. Vivo models alone plus their sub-specs total 37, while iQOO models plus variants total 20. If we combine the two, Vivo and iQOO have launched a total of 57 devices.

Vivo has launched 12 devices priced at Rs 15,000, which is double from the same quarter last year. It is issued in 12 units between Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000, 5 units between Rs 25,000 and Rs 35,000, 4 units between Rs 35,000 and Rs 45,000, 1 unit between Rs 45,000 and Rs 5,000.

Vivo + iQOO 2022: successes and failures
shot
For Vivo, we believe the X80 Pro is a huge success as it is a major upgrade from the previous generation. We want to give credit to Vivo for developing an impressive night mode in the camera, which makes it one of the best devices for clicking low-light photos. They also focus heavily on video mode and filmmaking.

We also feel that Vivo is shifting its strategy from the mid-range segment to the high-end segment, while iQOO is pushing better in both these segments this year as well. Then we also feel that iQOO is starting to separate itself from the two brands and become more mainstream, while Vivo is targeting the high-end audience.
dirty fire
While we did well in a few key areas, we think the differences between Vivo and iQOO are lacking. Some models of both brands are almost identical with minor differences.
Also, we believe that Vivo is not focusing on Vivo branded devices. Brand communication also needs to be more precise, with a clear mindset about which smartphone to launch for which type of audience.

More than 50% of Vivo and iQOO's combined devices are launched in the Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 segment, but despite this, we feel the focus on this segment has been shaken. Vivo has yet to build the iQOO's image to offer more.
After all, Vivo has been a little messy with its 2022 launch. It's been a quiet 3-4 months in between, waking up later in the year with 5-6 immediate starts. This creates confusion for consumers as with so many launches it becomes difficult for buyers to choose the device they want.
Vivo + iQOO 2022: Top 3 smartphones
Out of all the devices launched, in our opinion, the top 3 devices from the Chinese duo this year are:
#3: iQOO Neo 6:

Basically, the iQOO Neo 6 is an ideal smartphone for the average consumer as it is light on the pocket but rich in features. It has an impressive design, decent camera with very strong performance.
#2: iQOO 9T:

The IQOO 9T is another great value for money offering from iQOO. The smartphone remains competitively priced thanks to its unique design, rock-solid performance, and unprecedented charging speed without serious heating issues.
#1: Vivo X80 Pro

The Vivo X80 Pro takes the No. 1 spot on our list thanks to its continued improvements and focus on the camera, as well as a number of general improvements that make flagships difficult to beat after a while.
That's it for our Vivo and iQOO 2022 newsletter, and we think it was a more impressive year for iQOO than Vivo. With the iQOO 11 India launching soon, it will be interesting to see how Vivo will match or try to outdo its sub-brands' releases.
