  • Vivo has announced the global launch date for the X90 smartphone series.
  • The new flagship phones will be released on February 3.

Vivo launched the X90 series flagship phone in China at the end of November 2022, with plenty of power and a versatile Zeiss-branded camera system. We had to wait a while for the global release, but the company has finally confirmed the launch date.

The Chinese brand has announced a global launch on February 3, 2023 (22:00 GMT February 2, 06:00 GMT+8 February 3), although it has yet to reveal specific markets. However, we assume that the phones will be available in Europe, India and the Middle East.

It's unclear if all the phones will make it to market, but the rear camera text above suggests we're looking at at least the Vivo X90 Pro (which has a 50mm focal length).

The Vivo X90 Pro features a MediaTek dimension 9200 SOC, a 6.78-inch 120Hz (2,800 x 1,260) OLED screen, a 4,870mAh battery, 120W wired charging, 50W wireless speed, and an IP68 rating. The device features a 1-inch IMX989 50MP primary camera, a 50MP 2x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide shooter.

That said, we expect to see the high-end Vivo X90 Pro Plus. It offers a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.78-inch QHD+ 120Hz OLED display, a 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and an IP68 rating. The Pro Plus is also king of the mountain when it comes to photography, offering a one-inch 50MP main camera, 50MP 2X telephoto, 64MP 3.5x Periscope camera, and 48MP wide-angle lens.

Regardless, we thought last year's Vivo X80 Pro was a great camera-focused flagship phone, but it's a bit pricey in markets like Europe. So hopefully we'll see more competitive pricing on these new phones.
