Tecno Phantom X2 Pro Review: Midrange Smartphone With Retractable Camera

January 5 - Techno is a popular brand when we talk about the affordable smartphone market. However, the company now plans to expand further and become more competitive in the mid-range luxury smartphone segment. At its event in Dubai, Tecno unveiled its next smartphone, the Phantom X2 Pro, with a similar concept. Let's take a look at the main features, specifications, pros and cons of the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro.

Main features of Tecno Phantom X2 Pro

Designing

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is undoubtedly one of the most attractive Tecno smartphones. The company has spent a lot of money on the design, giving it a sleek and sophisticated look. The slim Tenco Phantom X2 Pro has a screen and back panel with curved edges.

The front panel is dominated by the FHD+ display, while the back panel is made of renewable materials, which sets it apart from other luxury smartphones.

The back surface gives a unique tactile feel and the phone is pleasant to touch. Additionally, the unique fabric back panel makes it fingerprint resistant.

On the right side of the mobile device there are volume controls and power buttons. The button area houses the charging port and stereo speakers, while the SIM card tray sits on the top of the device. Overall, the phone scores well in the design category and will be very popular for that.

Showing off

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro has a 6.8-inch FHD+ curved display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. Above the screen is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Vitus for protection. The 120Hz screen refresh rate provides a smooth browsing experience while using the phone. The screen is surrounded by small pillars on all sides, allowing for a much larger viewing area.

In addition, the screen offers wide viewing angles, allowing you to enjoy games and intensive viewing sessions. We couldn't test the company's claim that the phone offers a good display in direct sunlight. Apart from that, the screen is clear and bright, and the color reproduction is not bad.

Hardware and software

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is powered by octa-core MediaTek Dimesnity 9000 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The phone also supports 5 GB of virtual RAM. In our first test, the phone performed well. Games and multitasking are also perfect on the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro.

In addition to a powerful chipset, the Tecno Phantom X2 has a relatively large battery. The company's flagship phone has a 5,160 mAh battery with 45W fast charging capability. The manufacturer claims that the phone can be charged up to 50% in 20 minutes. However, we have not verified these claims. The dual-SIM phone has an in-display fingerprint sensor and two speakers for enhanced audio output.

In terms of software, the Phantom X2 Pro runs Android 12 operating system on top of the company's HiOS 12 layer. The phone has a simple user interface, but there are some bloatware programs, some of which cannot be removed.

There is also no app drawer, so all downloaded apps are loaded on the home screen. The phone comes with all the native features of Android 12 which was well reviewed when the phone was launched in India.

Camera

Tecno Phantom X2 is the first smartphone launched by the company to feature a triple camera setup on the back of the device. The rear camera has a 50-megapixel main lens, a 50-megapixel portrait lens and a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens.

The pop-up camera, as the name suggests, only works in portrait mode and does its best to capture the best of the subject.

You also get a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The camera worked flawlessly during our testing. Photos taken indoors are excellent, with good color reproduction and a high level of detail.

Battery and charger

Moving on to the battery, the Phantom X2 Pro packs a large 5160mAh battery which is enough to power the device throughout the day without any issues. No matter how much you use your phone, you'll have no problem getting through the day.

Instead of relying on the USB Power Delivery (PD) standard, Tecno has chosen to use its own 45W charging technology. The charger that comes with the device does a great job of fully charging the device within an hour, while wireless charging is also available. It is not an option.

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro price in Indonesia

On 22 February 2023, Tecno Phantom X2 Pro will be launched in the Indian market. Mobile devices will have amazing features and technical specifications. Tecno Phantom X2 Pro device is available at a starting price of Rs 76,590 which is equivalent to BDT 95,930.

At the end of the line

Tecno has made a very commendable effort with the Phantom X2 Pro. This phone is more than capable of taking on the Nord OnePlus series and Neo series Realmem. However, to give a more detailed and complete verdict on the phone, the public will have to wait for its release in Bangladesh.
