MEUTE is an 11-piece techno orchestra playing techno, house and deep house music from popular producers. In addition to original compositions, successful compositions for orchestral instruments are composed. I released MEUTE TAUMEL on Friday, November 18th.
The 12-track opus features pulsating techno, deep house vocals, energetic beats, stunning instrumentation and more. In fact, the group from Hamburg, Germany brings a special sound of dance music.
According to trumpeter Thomas Berhorn, who founded the band in 2015, TAUMEL means "to fall" in German. In addition, this word can mean giddiness, euphoria in German. There is also the word freudentaumel , which means "to be happy", so there is ambiguity in TAUMEL .
"It's about the many emotions you can experience when you're depressed and out of control," she says. "Sometimes it can be beautiful... It can be down from joy, it can also be down from uncertainty. This [Covid-19] describes our situation in the last two years, when all forms of cultural life in the world have been brought to a standstill."
Berhorn says the standard track "Peace" is about peace within, peace with the outside world, and finding a voice for peace between countries, especially in our time. "We want peace on earth, and I think many people in the world don't understand why humanity can't find a solution to bring peace to the world," he says. "No matter how romantic or naive it may seem, this is what we are fighting for: world peace. That is why we travel the world and want to show that there is no reason for borders between peoples."
"[Music] is universal," he adds. "This is for everyone. We've never had an experience where there was no resonance between our music and people. Entonces, en todos los países, ya sea que estemos en los EE. Besides UU., Polonia, Thailand, Francia or other countries, there are resonance vibrations: resonance between people."
According to Börhorn, the group was formed because he is a trumpet player and a fan of metal and techno music. The violinist went on to say that "the feeling of having a DJ on stage makes the night more hypnotic and ecstatic and evokes... strong emotions in the audience". He adds that even if there's nothing else going on on stage other than the DJ, he thinks the atmosphere is all about the music. He started the band because he thought it would be "interesting and amazing" to have a live band play the same music as a DJ, especially minimal techno.
"You see, there's a whole universe in this field of band music that we're the first to understand what's going on," says Bearhorn. "It's an idea... It's part of our philosophy."
