MEUTE is an 11-piece techno music group performing techno, house and deep house hits from award-winning producers. In addition to the original works, Hitt's compositions have been arranged for brass band instruments. On Friday, November 18 , MEUTE TAUMEL.
The 12-track body features exciting techno, deep house sounds, powerful rhythms, impressive instrumentation and more. In fact, the band from Hamburg, Germany bring their very own sound to dance music.
According to trumpeter Thomas Burhorn, who founded the group in 2015, TAUMEL means circle in German. The German word also means a dizzy feeling or a feeling of ecstasy. There is also the word Freudentamel , meaning ecstasy, so TAUMEL has an ambiguity.
"It's about the many feelings you can have when you fall apart and lose control of everything," he says. "Sometimes it can be beautiful... You [can] fall for joy and you can also fall for not being sure of yourself. That describes our situation in the last two years when [Covid-19] took over the cultural world. Life has stopped”.
Burhorn says the song "Peace" on the LP is about finding a word for inner peace, peace with the environment and peace between nations, especially in this day and age. "We want peace in the world, and I think a lot of people around the world don't understand why humanity can't find a solution to bring peace around the world," he says. "As romantic or naive as it may sound, that's what we're fighting for: world peace. That's why we travel all over the world and want to show that there is no reason to have borders between nations.
"[Music] is something universal," he added. "It's for everyone. We've never had an experience where there wasn't a resonance between our music and the people. So in any country, whether it's the United States, Poland, Thailand, France or anywhere else, we always feel the same Resonance vibration, and we are convinced that this is what we need: a resonance between people. .
Burhorn says the group was formed because he's a trumpeter and a fan of techno and brass music. The instrumentalist gushed, "The feeling of being a DJ on stage gets more hypnotic and euphoric as the night progresses and the crowd... there's intense emotion." He added that when nothing's happening on stage, only it is there's a DJ, he finds the atmosphere revolves around music. He formed the group because he thought it would be "interesting and spectacular" to have a live band play the same music as the DJs, specifically minimalist techno.
"You see, there's a whole universe in this area of techno marching band music where we're the first to understand what's going on in that universe," Burhorn said. "That's the idea... it's part of our philosophy."
