The Team Behind Renowned Kiss My Kick Drums Announce Brand New Technofocused, Allinclusive Event

The team of Kiss My Kick Drums, Croaktek and Happy Daze are organizing a new event in Bristol this month.

The Foundation Techno Festival, taking place on May 19 at The Clock Factory, is designed to bring together the biggest names in the industry for an evening dedicated exclusively to techno music.

Dave Slinks, co-founder of Foundation Techno, told Bristol 24/7: "The show is about people taking the basic course we call education."

“Sound is not only sound, but everything that affects sound. Our little motto is tech education, so we'll have different styles, but it won't be normal. People will know."

The sound of techno is at the forefront of this new event, as the team believes there is nothing like it in the city.

“I wouldn't say it's just another techno party,” Dave says. “Now there is another genre in the underground techno scene that people don't really know about, and especially in Bristol it was so focused on jungle and DnB that people don't even know there is another scene.

“We're just trying to create new sounds and release pure technology, which I think is pretty rare. For us, especially for those who are known for their techno sound, it's very important to keep techno alive."

The event aims to bring together the best headliners, the Bristol underground techno community, high quality sound, production, lighting and live visuals in one unique venue.

The event was led by Juliet Fox (Drumcode) and Alex Stein (Filth on Acid), one of Bristol's leading trance producers and DJ Mandydextrous (Ram Records) with his techno moniker Boxsy.

It was important for the team to make the evening as safe and inclusive as possible, not only for those present, but also for the invited artists.

“We wouldn't say it's an LGBT event, but it's important to us that it be inclusive,” Dave said.

“Mandy and our other artists, guys who may not be completely transgender but like to dress up when they DJ, I don't want them to be able to be themselves when they're performing. There is no place for prejudices and insults.”

The team hopes to hold the event semi-regularly and take the stage to Boomtown this summer.
