Oppo today announced two new flagships in China and manages to launch the smaller of the two outside of its home market. The Find N2 Flip has a similar design to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and starts at 6,000 yen (about $861), while the Find N2, its big brother, has a larger tablet form factor, the Galaxy Z Fold is more close to 4 and starts at 8,000 yen (about $1,148).

As reported by XDA Developers , the Flip will launch internationally, but the regular Find N2 will remain in China for now, just like its predecessor, the Find N. I expect the Find N2 Flip to launch in Europe in the first quarter of next year, but it's unlikely to be officially released in the US since Oppo hasn't sold any phones in North America in the past.

Let's start with the Find N2 Flip, as it's a phone that some Verge readers may be getting their hands on in the near future. The most striking selling point of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is its large external display, which has a diagonal of 3.26 inches and has a resolution of 720x382. This is significantly larger than the 1.9-inch Samsung, and Oppo's website advertises it as such. It can be used to display everything from weather to notifications and also act as a viewer for the camera.

This internal display measures 6.8 inches with a 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. According to Oppo, it will last 400,000 times, which means the mechanism should last 10 years if you fold and unfold it 100 times a day. It has an ultra-thin glass coating that is said to help with durability and has a small cutout for its 32-megapixel selfie camera.

As for the specs of the regular phone, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus processor with 8, 12 or 16GB RAM and 256 or 512GB storage options. It combines a 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, packs a 4,300mAh battery with up to 44W fast charging, and biometric security is handled by a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

While the Find N2 Flip is a new form factor from Oppo, the larger Find N2 looks like an upgrade over the original Find N model. It still has a 7.1-inch internal display, although the external display is slightly larger this time. Approximately 5.54 inches. Oppo advertises that its hinge is 37% smaller and 36% lighter, the fold is 60% narrower and the display is 34% lighter. With a total weight of 233 grams, Oppo claims the Find N2 is "the lightest horizontally foldable device ever," reports XDA Developers .

Like the Find N2 Flip, the Find N2 has 400,000 folds (up from 200,000 in last year's model). There's a 32-megapixel selfie camera in the top-left hole and a triple rear camera (50-megapixel main, 48-megapixel ultra-wide and 32-megapixel telephoto). It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and its 4,520mAh battery can be fast-charged up to 67W.

That's an impressive set of specs, which makes it all the more disappointing that the Find N2 isn't coming to market (at least for now). This makes Honor the only manufacturer committed to competing with Samsung's tablet-style foldable devices when it launches the Magic VS globally next year.
