Jailbreak Now Works With These IPhone Models Running IOS 15 And IOS 16
When the iPhone first came out, it was common for people to lock their phones. Whether it's offering custom apps or adding features not available with iOS, it's becoming increasingly difficult for hackers to exploit vulnerabilities in the iOS ecosystem as Apple has expanded many of the features users want.
According to 9to5Mac , the Pla1 jailbreak is "based on Chem8, an exploit discovered in 2019" and is considered "unpattable" because it can be found on "the launch class of Apple chips from A5 to A11 Bionic".
The developer behind this jailbreak tool claims that it works on any version from iOS 15 to iOS 16.2, but not all iPhone models can exploit this bug. Below are the iOS 16 devices affected by the Checkm8 exploit:
- iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus;
- iPhone X;
- iPad5;
- iPad6;
- iPad7;
- iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation).
The Palera1n Twitter account says that devices running iOS 16 "must have recovery and div mode enabled, so it should never have a passcode." The label reads: "If you have a passcode enabled, you must wipe the device."
BGR does not advise anyone to jailbreak an iPhone, as someone can exploit these vulnerabilities after jailbreaking. Jailbreak removes restrictions on iOS devices, allowing you to access and modify system files, customize, change themes, and download apps outside of the App Store.
A GitHub archive is available with all the information about this half-caught checkm8 jailbreak. After the recent launch of iOS 16, some features that users may have after exploiting a flaw in the iPhone's chip were unable to function properly. The hackers behind this tool claim to be working on an upgrade.
