Google Adds Lens To The Google Site On Android
Google has introduced Lenses to various corners of its ecosystem, and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop. Now, after more than 5 years in the market, Google Lens for Android has finally arrived on the Google website.
Google introduced Lens at Google I/O 2017. It was its own standalone app at the time. The company hoped that people would go there when they wanted to travel the world. However, in recent years it has existed better as a support service applied to other applications.
For example, Lens is tightly integrated with Google Photos. While viewing the image, you can allow the lens to scan the image. Lens is also implemented in Google Image Search in the Chrome browser. You can right-click an image and activate Lens to scan the image directly from your computer.
Accessing Google Lens using your Android phone is already pretty easy, but that doesn't mean the company can't offer more ways to access the service. As 9To5Google points out, when you open Google using a mobile browser on your Android phone, you'll see a link to Google Lens. This will replace the microphone icon for voice search
When you tap the Google Lens icon, you'll see a small square in the middle of the screen. This will take you directly to the app. This feature is different from using Google Lens in Google Photos. When you use Lens Photo, it scans your phone's photos. However, when you use Lens in the Android browser, it will go directly to the Google Lens app.
So if you want to do a quick Google Lens scan of what's on your screen, you'll need to take a screenshot. Still, it's nice to have another shortcut to access Google Lens if you ever need it.
