We have ended the 2022 smartphone launch season. Qualcomm has already announced its flagship chipset for 2023, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which means that Android smartphone makers are starting to race to release their next generation phones. A week after the debut of its previous official and impressive Snapdragon chip, Vivo has announced the X90 Pro+, which is said to be the world's first phone with Qualcomm's latest SoC chip. Vivo X90 series consists of three phones including X90 and X90 Pro. All phones have excellent hardware with a special focus on camera performance.

Vivo equipped the entire X90 series with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, 50MP main camera, dual SIM 5G and OriginOS 3 based on Android 13. The Vivo X90 Pro Plus is one of three phones with four super cameras and a higher display resolution. It should be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone. Oppo is proud to announce the world's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone, but it hasn't revealed when it will be available yet.

The most interesting phone in this series is the Vivo X90 Pro Plus. It features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a 64MP camera, 3.5x zoom, and a 3D fingerprint scanner (via GSMArena). The phone has a large 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 camera with a Zeiss logo, the same sensor as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

A suite of Vivo software features such as horizon correction, lens flare portrait mode, astrophotography mode, and 100x hybrid zoom round out the camera setup. The phone can shoot 8K video at 30fps with support for Dolby Vision and LOG10. The company equipped the phone V2 ISP for image processing. It has 45MB SRAM and delivers 16TOPS per watt. All of this is supported by a 4800mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro

These phones have a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UV 4.0 internal storage. The main difference between the two is the rear camera setup, the regular X90 has a 50MP main, 50MP selfie and 12MP wide angle camera. On the Pro model, you get a 50-megapixel main sensor and a larger image sensor, which should help in low light. There are a few other minor differences that help control the price of this phone compared to the Pro+ model.
