French Orchestral Techno Producer Worakls Teases Studio Album With New Single 54
French producer Worakls may not be a household name on the American mainstream scene, but the talented Parisian has been creating orchestral dance music for nearly a decade to critical acclaim. After his Paris protest-inspired "Pipeline", remixes of Armin Van Buuren's "One More Time" and a US tour, the Frenchman returns with the lead single from his forthcoming studio album.
“54” is also an ode to the club of the same name and its daughter's name, LIV, or 54 in Roman numerals. More structured and physical than yesterday's Studio 54 nightclub, Worakls presents what can only be described as French orchestral techno. It's a genre and it sounds unique.
Things open up to a decidedly minimalist 54, a steady beat and a weird metal synth driving the load. But the production really comes alive as he introduces the keys and widens the opening of the sound. An intriguing combination of cinematic strings collides with a connecting melody, a techno backbone and a well-directed orchestra. For those in the know, this is the best Worakls track and still one of the best.
