WhatsApp Users Can Now Have 2 Accounts On An Android Phone

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp announced that users can now have multiple accounts on Android smartphones.

“What's better than having a WhatsApp account? Yes, of course there are two. "Today we introduced the ability to log into two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously on Android," the messenger said in a statement.

According to WhatsApp, this feature will be useful for switching between accounts, such as work and personal. "Now you no longer need to leave the house all the time, carry two cellphones, or worry about messages sent from the wrong place," explained the platform led by Mark Zuckerberg.

To create a second account, users need a second phone number and a SIM card or phone that supports multiple SIM cards or eSIM. WhatsApp users can open Settings, tap the arrow next to their name, and tap Add Account. They will also be able to control privacy and notification settings for each account.

“We remind you to only use the official WhatsApp and not download counterfeit or fake versions to get more accounts on your phone. "Your messages are only safe and private when you use official WhatsApp," the company said in a statement.

The announcement comes a month after WhatsApp said its users in India can now make purchases and send payments using rival app UPI, debit and credit cards.
