It's been two years since the launch of OnePlus' first smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch. It could be said that this device is more suitable to be on the list of the best fitness trackers than on the list of the best smartwatches. But it seems that the company is not giving up and is likely to release a new smartwatch in 2024.
It took a while for Max Jumbo to post rumors of a OnePlus smartwatch on the X (formerly Twitter). According to the report, OnePlus may be ready to launch the OnePlus Watch 2 in 2024. Jambor also added that the dial of the watch will be round.
While we don't have a release window in advance, we have heard that a new OnePlus Watch could be coming soon. A few weeks ago, a major leak from @realMlgmXyysd revealed that parent company OnePlus was working on a smartwatch codenamed "Star." Existing leaks suggest that this Star smartwatch may have variants that include OWW231 for the Chinese market, OWWE231 for the global market, and OPWWE231 for the global market as a OnePlus brand product.
This round-shaped smartwatch is said to have a screen with a resolution of 466 x 466. It is also said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip with a BES 2700 coprocessor for low-power operation. The device can have various features including ECG, always-on display, fist movement, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, stress monitoring, sleep monitoring, and exercise monitoring.
The company's first smartwatch was nothing more than a glorified fitness tracker. But it looks like this new device could be the smartwatch we've always wanted.
