The TicWatch Pro 5 is the best Wear OS smartwatch I've tested so far; Not only is it powered by a fast Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip, it also has good battery life despite Google's resource-intensive operating system.
This means that the TicWatch Pro 5 can do almost everything the Pixel Watch does, but you won't have to charge it every day, making life a lot easier. It normally costs $350, but there's a deal available for Amazon Prime subscribers that brings that price down to $280, which is a steal for such a capable watch. However, you'll need to act fast, as the Prime Big Deal Days event ends tonight and we don't expect this price to last.
The main feature of the TicWatch Pro 5 is that it has a low-power, always-on monochrome LCD display that sits atop its OLED touchscreen. This means the watch can continuously display the time, step count and heart rate without draining the battery too much. This clever solution means the TicWatch Pro 5 can easily go three days or more between charges, whereas you'd struggle to go 24 hours with a Pixel Watch using the same software.
The software in question is Wear OS 3.5, which means you can use almost any Wear OS app to run WhatsApp, Spotify, Google Fit and Strava directly on your watch. It is every craftsman's dream platform with endless customization options. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the TicWatch Pro 5 doesn't support Google Assistant, so you'll still need to use your phone if you want to use it.
