Yummy Plate Raises Funding From K12 Techno Services To Provide Meals To School Students
Delicious Plate said the $2 million donation will help expand its service to Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi.
Founded in 2022 by Bala Hariharan, the B2B startup offers subscription-based catering services to schools.
Delicious Plate currently serves over 3,000 students across 30 schools in Bengaluru and aims to grow this number to over 20,000 students next year.
Subscription meal service provider Yumi Plat raised $2 million in funding from education services platform K12 Techno Services on Tuesday, August 22.
The startup said it will use the funds to expand its presence in the country by entering new cities.
Founded in 2022 by Bala Hariharan, the B2B startup offers subscription-based catering services to schools. It currently hosts over 3,000 students across over 30 schools in Bangalore.
In a statement, Yumi Platt said the new funding will help it expand its services to Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi. The startup aims to reach over 100 schools to welcome over 20,000 students next year. It aims to establish a pan-India presence within three years.
Commenting on the fundraiser, founder Hariharan said, “So far we have received positive feedback from parents and we want to provide the best affordable food that meets all the nutritional needs of students during their growing years. With this funding, we are confident that we will be able to achieve our goals by expanding our services to different cities.
Investor K12 Techno Services says there is a huge gap in the market to provide quality nutritious meals to schools, a gap Yumi Plate is trying to fill. “Our goals are aligned with Umi Plates, as we believe in providing the best possible environment for holistic development of students. Delicious Plate competes with other subscription meal providers such as My Embrace Box, EatFit and HealthyKitchen.
The fundraiser was launched at a time when startups are shutting down for capital during the funding winter. According to Inc42's India Tech Startup Funding for H1 2023 report, total funding raised by Indian startups fell to $5.4 billion in the first half of 2023 from $19 billion in the same period . Meanwhile, initial funding fell to $479 million in the first half of 2023 from $1.4 billion a year earlier.
