Redmi Smart Fire TV 4K Review: A Visual Treat At An Affordable Price
Xiaomi is slowly making a name for itself in the affordable TV segment and has been producing the best TVs for many years now. The proprietary Patchwall, the Xiaomi TV control interface, has become a fan favorite. And the company's latest move to harness the power of Google TV has led to the emergence of a new line of budget TVs in the Full HD and 4K segments.
Today Xiaomi has gone even further with the Redmi brand. The company has launched a bundle and partnered with Amazon to launch a very affordable 43-inch 4K TV - Redmi Smart Fire TV 4K 43. Priced at Rs 23,999 and powered by Amazon Alexa, this TV is set to be a game changer.
The TV will officially go on sale on Friday, September 29, on Amazon and the Redmi official website.
Now let's move directly to this review.
The viewing experience offered by Redmi Smart Fire TV is truly stunning. The 43-inch 4K display delivers stunning visual clarity that sets it apart from the competition. The TV's support for a variety of apps, including popular streaming platforms such as Netflix, ensures an enjoyable viewing experience.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) improves the visual and dynamic aspects of your TV with deeper black levels and exceptional color reproduction. The TV's dynamic range adds depth to images, making it easier to differentiate between different scenes.
It's the software integration that really improves the viewing experience. The TV offers several picture modes, my favorites being the Cinema and Music modes. This mode optimizes speaker settings, creates spatial sound and improves picture quality.
Dolby Atmos integration further improves the audio quality and ensures at least room-filling sound. However, this TV's gaming performance is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, making it less suitable for hardcore console gamers. However, according to Xiaomi, this TV is the gateway to the world of 4K entertainment for most consumers.
The Fire TV operating system on Redmi Smart Fire TV impresses with its responsiveness and high performance. Setting up the TV is very easy, the system has a visually attractive appearance and a balanced color palette. The user-friendly approach makes navigating the app easy.
This TV supports a variety of third-party OTT apps and can expand its app collection through the Fire TV Store. Even though it has only 2GB of RAM, it offers flawless performance and fast switching between applications. The internal memory of 16 GB is enough to store more applications.
For Alexa users, the TV integrates with other Alexa-enabled devices to provide remote monitoring and control. Voice commands work effectively, although they sometimes require application-specific details.
But what stands out is the lack of Xiaomi's Patchwall UI that recommends movies. Additionally, the TV guide may be a little difficult for older users.
Redmi Smart Fire TV prioritizes the operating system over visual enhancements. The TV is a small black profile with Redmi and Fire TV symbols. Given the potential for placement in living rooms and sitting areas, a more unique design may be required.
In terms of connectivity, the TV has standard options including an HDMI port, a USB port, an AUX port, and an Ethernet port. The updated remote features a play button that works across all apps and an Alexa button for responding to voice commands.
Redmi Smart Fire TV 43 inches 4K is an interesting addition to the Redmi Smart TV lineup. It offers fast response times, superior audiovisual quality, and an attractive Fire TV operating system. If you are looking for an affordable smart TV with a user-friendly operating system, the Redmi Smart Fire TV at Rs 24,999 is an attractive option.
