  • Android's upcoming Connect Your Devices feature could allow devices to automatically create and connect to websites when an internet connection is required.
  • This feature helps to randomize the username and password of these websites.
  • Additionally, nearby devices can share Wi-Fi data with each other, just like Apple.

The integration of the Apple ecosystem makes us Android users envious, but it seems Google has a knack for the Android vs. iOS feud. We previously reported that Google was working on a Connect Your Devices feature to facilitate cross-device integration, offering features like call forwarding and internet sharing between connected devices. New details now suggest that this feature will prove even more useful than expected.

According to AssembleDebug, the additional features allow Android devices to work better than before after creating an associated/joined group of your devices.

Previous leaks suggested Bluetooth internet sharing functionality would be one of the highlights of this integration, but it proved a bit awkward given Bluetooth's limitations. We now know that this feature is being rolled out to allow your other devices to activate websites and connect when they need to access the internet from your host devices.

Also, the hotspot name and password can be random, making it difficult for other users to connect to your network, even if they guess the details.

We find this very handy, especially if you have a primary phone with a SIM card and additional devices without a SIM card, e.g. B. a second phone or tablet. I chose to manually set it up and enable the hotspot on my primary device, then manually connect the tablet to the tablet when I need to use it. However, this feature allows for a seamless process, allowing you to pick up and use additional devices without worrying about connectivity.

Additionally, the leak also mentions that you can automatically transfer Wi-Fi data between nearby connected devices. When you connect to a new Wi-Fi network this way, such as at an airport or a coffee shop, all of your devices can connect to the network without having to enter the same Wi-Fi credentials again.

These are small steps, but they have a significant impact on the end user experience. Many of the features in these ecosystems have helped Apple build its reputation as "It Just Works," and we're glad to see Google making progress toward that goal. These features have not yet been announced, but we anticipate that they will be implemented through Google Play Services.
