  • Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition in China.
  • The phone stands out from other Redmi devices thanks to its IP68 rating.
  • It is also available with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Xiaomi confirmed last week that it will launch the Redmi K60 Extreme Edition today, while also sharing some initial details. Well, the day has come and Xiaomi has already launched a new phone.

The phone instantly stands out from previous Redmi models thanks to its IP68 water and dust resistance. Yes, this appears to be the first Redmi phone to receive an IP67 or IP68 rating. Well, if we don't count the Japanese-owned Redmi Note 10 Japan Edition.

The Redmi K60 Extreme Edition also packs a lot of power thanks to its flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus processor and PixelWorks X7 display chip. The latter allows for enlargement as well as image interpolation.

Meanwhile, the rear camera system consists of a 50MP primary camera (IMX800 with OIS) and two secondary macro cameras (8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro). The phone also has a 20MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Other than that, you also get dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster.

We expect to pay 2,599 yuan (~$358) for the base 12GB / 256GB model Redmi K60 Extreme Edition, and 3,599 yuan (~$495) for the higher 24GB / 1TB version.

There is no word on global availability, but the new Redmi phone is said to be launched outside of China, as will the Xiaomi 13T Pro. If confirmed, it will be the first waterproof phone in the Xiaomi T series.
