The Pleasure Of Sharing: Coffintexts' Offkilter Productions Explore The Sensual Depths Of Bass And Techno
What do you think of the "Latino boom" in Europe... do you think it's a good thing? Do you think there should be more information outside of the United States about the Hispanic origins of the genre?
I think it's great and touching to see someone who seems so different enjoy something so close to me. To be honest, there's nothing wrong with explaining and talking a bit about Hispanic tastes and lifestyle. When I'm with my family in Peru, there's always rock music, and it's very fun and festive. Everyone relaxed and enjoyed each other's company, singing and dancing together. Life is about celebrating each other and the time we spend together now.
How does it feel to be in the light of the world from today's Miami underground?
It looks weird and also very nice. I feel like a lot of my colleagues and I have been doing this for a while, so it puts the work we do into perspective. It's great that people are interested in what we do here. It's definitely a nice pocket and what I love the most is the reminder that this is just the beginning of what we can grow together. It takes dedicated people who appreciate music and time to build a lasting community, and since Miami is a relatively young city, we did something special.
What do you think listeners will take away from Touch? How would you like to feel?
As always, I like to look for a sexy and sensual feeling in a certain way... but this time I approached the project with a hypnotic and a dancer. I try to show different styles and variations in every project I post.
This album was the first from Local Action's new subsidiary label Clásico. How would you release an EP with the band that created the album?
I can't thank Eleanor and Tom enough! It was so easy to put this together and I'm so honored that they reached out to me during their label journey. Their support and enthusiasm is very motivating and rewarding because when I get continued support on a release, I'm very happy with the sound.
What is your main musical spirit?
Sharing music and always looking for ways to bring people together. More importantly, when I play live, I want to play for the audience, not for myself. I always have fun and like to share music.
What's next for you?
Fortunately, I have my hands full of a bit of everything. I have to make sure I take enough time to take care of my well-being, because I will soon be releasing different DJ mixes, collaborative projects that are coming to an end, solo projects, fun mixes. I also travel a lot, working to complete my European debut in a few months!
Can you tell us a bit about this mix?
For this mix, I put on some fun music I've been listening to in my recent free time. Of course, I made my way to unreleased songs. I usually listen to this when I'm stuck in traffic because it calms my mind and makes me feel good.
