On Friday, Tecno hosted the Future of Imaging Technology 2023 conference in Delhi where it unveiled a new imaging experience called Ultimage. The technology, which will be introduced for the first time in the Tecno Camon 20 series, focuses on the development of special sensors and artificial intelligence to best meet the needs of portrait photography, anti-shake functionality and low-light shooting.

The company says the Ultima will be introduced in the Camon and Camon brand premium products starting with the Camon 20 series. The series consists of three phones, the Camon 20 Premier 5G, the Camon 20 Pro 5G, and the Camon 20, all of which are expected. It was released in the market at the end of this month.

For this event, Tecno heavily supports the Camon 20 series camera capabilities by building the entire event around it. The Camon 20 series is undoubtedly a camera phone at its core. one look at the large camera island on the back and you'll know right away.

The tested Tecno Camon 20 Premier had a triple camera sensor: a 50MP RGBW main sensor, a 108MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP portrait sensor. An ultra-wide-angle camera with more pixels than the main camera is rare, but we've never seen one before.

Moving on to Ultiimage, Tecno boasts that its RGBW Pro technology replaces the green band resolution with white in the traditional RGGB color filter. This, Techno says, allows for much higher light output. Again, this technology isn't all that new. Oppo, for example, showed off a camera sensor with a similar pixel arrangement in 2021.

Tecno also showed off its sensor shift technology, which it claims can compensate for shakes up to 5,000 times per second. Instead of relying on lens movement to compensate for handshakes or rough travel, sensor shift uses movement from the camera's own sensor.

In addition, Tecno says its new Portrait Master algorithm allows users to create portraits from the first shot, delivering "perfect images in one shot."

Finally, Tecno announced that it is one of the first smartphone brands to update to Android 14, bringing "numerous updates on privacy, security, performance and user personalization."
