New Techno Music Event To Take Place

The bands behind Kiss My Kick Drums, Croaktek and Happy Daze present a new event in Bristol this month.

Foundation Techno, taking place at The Clock Factory on May 19th, aims to bring together some of the biggest names in the industry for an evening entirely focused on techno music.

"The name is kind of a game where people take a basic course, we call it education," Foundation Techno co-founder Dave Slinks told Bristol 24/7.

“Voice isn't just about sound, it's about everything that affects that sound. Our little mantra is tech education, so we're going to have different approaches, but it won't be the norm that people are familiar with."

Techno sound takes center stage at the new event as the team believe there is no other in town.

"I wouldn't call it another raw techno party," said Dave. “There's a different kind of music going on in the underground techno scene right now that people didn't know about, especially in Bristol. It's so jungle and DnB focused that people don't realize there's a whole different music scene out there.”

"We're just trying to push a new sound and introduce pure technology, which I think is very rare. For us, who are best known for our art music, I think it's very important to stay strictly technical."

The event aims to bring together VIPs, Bristol's underground tech community, quality sound, production, lighting and live visuals in one place.

The event will be hosted by Juliette Fox (Drum Code) and Alex Stein (Filth on Acid), as well as renowned Bristol trance producer and DJ Mandydextrous (Ram Records), performing as Techno Boxy.

It was important to the team to make the evening as safe and inclusive as possible not only for the participants but also for the featured artists.

Dave continued, "We wouldn't call it an LGBT event, but it's important to us that it's inclusive."

“Mandy and all our other artists, friends who may not be entirely trans but like to dress up when the DJ is playing. I don't want them not to be themselves when they play. There is no place for prejudice or harassment.”

The team hopes to run the event biannually and will also take over the Boomtown stage in the summer of 2023.
