Vivo May Be Prepping A Clamshell Foldable To Rival The Galaxy Z Flip, N2 Flip And Razr
Vivo will soon launch a new foldable phone - according to tipster Snoopy Tech - a foldable clamshell phone similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Motorola Razr 2022.
According to Snoopy, the phone will be branded Vivo X Flip and will receive Google Play certification and will be launched soon. Vivo is yet to announce any upcoming events at the time of writing. The company previously launched the Vivo X Fold, a sleek foldable version of the Galaxy Z Fold, in 2022 and its successor, the X Fold Plus, in the same year. Neither this nor it has been officially released to the world.
The potential launch of the new foldable Vivo comes at an interesting time for parent company BBK Electronics. While reports of sibling companies Oppo and OnePlus pulling out of Europe have proven to be highly exaggerated (i.e. false), Vivo's folding strategy so far suggests that the X Flip will not be released outside of China and other Asian markets. It's Oppo's first foldable device available internationally (read our Oppo Find N2 Flip review to learn more) and OnePlus' next foldable device to launch in those markets instead.
With the advent of smartphones, ending a phone call with the push of a button wasn't as difficult as slamming down or closing the phone. Cap-style wraps solve these problems, among other things, and we're always happy to see more. At TechRadar, we prefer devices with foldable lids; With the first two entries in our roundup of the best foldable phones currently using this more compact form factor.
Although Samsung has the first advantage, we can expect Vivo to implement better camera functionality. The Oppo Flip N2 series has the best camera you'll find on a foldable device right now. It comes from Oppo's track record of making great camera phones. We can expect the same from Vivo, which also excels in mobile phone camera capabilities. Faster charging, a bigger battery and possibly a bigger lock screen than what Samsung offers could make it an attractive buy when it comes to the UK, Europe and other countries.
