Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Debuts With 120W Fast Charging And 200MP Camera
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 12 series; The last major product line. Technically, it's not the real hardware level, but it's what the new Xiaomi 13 is meant to be. In contrast, the Note 12 continues the brand's ongoing efforts to rework the smartphone's most important features and reduce unnecessary small details.
The Redmi Note 12 series consists of four phones: Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G, Note 12, 12 5G and 12 Pro Plus 5G. March 24 in the UK (via retailers Xiaomi, Argos, Very and Amazon UK), regional availability of the 12 Pro 5G is yet to be confirmed.
For the standard Note 12, £279 (about $345 / AU$510) for the basic Note 12 5G, £339 (about $420) for the Note 12 Pro 5G at $/ $620) £449 (about $550 / AU$820) for the Note 12 Pro Plus 5G. .
Although these four phones look similar at first glance, there are differences between them. All the phones have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the differences are more noticeable. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus uses Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both sides, just like the Redmi Note 12 Pro. The Note 12 and 12 5G have the old Gorilla Glass 3, and only on the top.
Cameras and mounts are two other highlights in the range. Of course, the leaders here are the Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus. The Pro Plus has a 200MP primary camera while the Pro has the same 50MP Sony IMX766 camera that you find in the beautiful Oppo Find X5 Pro. The Redmi Note 12 and Note 12 5G also have 48MP and 50MP cameras respectively, but the company hasn't revealed which sensors will be used. Level 3 cameras are compatible with an 8 MP camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The front-facing camera ranges from 16MP for Pro devices to 13MP for non-Pro devices.
When it comes to charging, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro Plus are powered by a 5,000mAh battery with impressively fast 67W and 120W charging speeds, respectively. It's not as fast as the Realme GT 3 (what is that?), but it's definitely better than the iPhone or Samsung. Note 12 and Note 12 5G aren't fast, but 33W should be enough for most people. At least they all come with chargers in the box.
When it comes to the rest, it's a mixed bag. The Pro Plus and Pro Power are powered by a MediaTek 1080 processor paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, while the Note 12 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 and the Note 12 5G is powered by the new first-generation Snapdragon 4. processor; Again up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The non-professional models have a microSD expansion option up to 1 TB.
They all have the latest version of MIUI 14 UX, which is useful as all but Redmi Note 12 are not based on Android 12 13. Many live skins are not based here. A combination of black, white, blue and green depending on the device you choose.
The Redmi Note 12 series continues the company's goal of offering powerful devices at affordable prices. Sure, phones like the Google Pixel 6a stand out among the budget phones you can buy, but you can (probably) get a lot more from the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus for the same price.
For example, a 120Hz display remains the flagship for companies like Apple and Google, and no company has yet come close to a 200MP sensor. There are plenty of reasons to despise Redmi's simple brute-force approach to its devices, but there's no denying that the brand understands the markets needs and is surprisingly quick to respond. If everything goes well during the review, it means that they have a chance to make the list of the best Xiaomi phones.
The Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 Pro might not be great, but if you want a big screen, a phone with fast battery life that lasts all day and a decent camera that captures a lot of detail, there are few phones out there. looking good. Good in this category.
