Xiaomi Redmi A1+ Review: Budget Phone With Fingerprint Sensor

November 9 - Redmi, a subsidiary of Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, was first launched in July 2013 as a low-cost smartphone series. In 2019, it was spun as a sub-brand of Xiaomi to make smartphones and mid-range devices. The A1+ debuted in the entry-level Redmi A series in September 2022. Let's take a look at the specifications, features and limitations of the Redmi A1+.

Xiaomi Redmi A1 + Key Features

Design and Features

Xiaomi Redmi A1+ retains the dimensions of 164.9 x 76.8 x 9.1 mm or 6.49 x 3.02 x 0.36 inches. Its weight is 192 grams. And he has two sim cards. There are speakers and a 3.5 mm jack. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, hotspots, etc. Plus a WLAN connection. It is compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. There is GPS in addition to A-GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS and BDS.

There is a fingerprint scanner on the top center of the back of the phone. This is perhaps the first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor in the international market. The back of this phone is made of premium plastic. It has a leather texture that gives it a very elegant look. The phone also has a dual camera setup on the back with a flashlight in the upper left corner.

Three color options are available for the Redmi A1: light green, dark black and light blue. For the purposes of this review, we chose the light green option and found a natural shade that matches the minimalist design of the smartphone.

proof

The 6.52-inch IPS display on the front of the device offers a 60Hz refresh rate and 1600 x 720 pixels with HD+ resolution. The screen has a 120Hz touch sampling rate, 400 nits of screen brightness and scratch-resistant glass to protect the screen. Additionally, there is a notch on the front of the device with a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The phone does not have a fingerprint scanner.

It looks good if you want to use it to watch SD videos. The screen has a ceiling that hits the ceiling early and you can't do anything after that. The results were in line with what you'd expect from a low-cost smartphone when we watched videos on YouTube, Netflix, and Hotstar. Not entirely unique, but very good for the price.

In addition, the screen is able to reach a maximum brightness of 400 nits and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. While the scrolling feel is satisfactory, the touch stimulation has increased significantly. You may need to spend some time preparing your phone to fix this problem.

camera

The camera of the Redmi A1 Plus is more focused on getting the job done than impressing users with its quality or capabilities. In favorable lighting conditions, the main 8-megapixel sensor located on the back of the device takes pictures of satisfactory quality. It even does a respectable job with selfies (aided by the extra 0.3MP camera on the back).

If you don't delve into this expecting better colors and details, you won't be disappointed. Instead, you'll get a good shot of posting on social media and sending emails and text messages.

Videos are, for the most part, ideal for sharing on social media, although there is a useful time-lapse mode. If there is not enough lighting, the quality of still and moving images will be reduced.

Although the color reproduction of the 5MP front camera is not very good, if you take selfies in well-lit places, you will get pictures worth sharing. This is not a camera for serious photographers. Rather, it is a hit-and-run model in the traditional sense. If you take adequate precautions, you can get decent results. Perhaps there were obvious strangers.

performance and equipment

The Redmi A1 Plus is powered by the MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset. The performance of this processor is satisfactory enough for basic activities like surfing the internet, making video calls, using navigation, and many other activities. 32 GB of disk space and 3 GB of RAM are provided.

The Redmi A1 Plus uses the Android 12 GO operating system developed by Google specifically for use in budget smartphones. This is one of the important takeaways from this review. Apart from this operating system, you will not find much evidence of MIUI. The user interface is very nice except for Facebook Lite, the phone is free of malware.

We tested the GPU or GPU of the smartphone while playing light games like Subway Surfers, Candy Crush and Clash Royale. The phone is equipped with a PowerVR GE8320 graphic processor.

Once we are satisfied with the overall performance of the smartphone, turn on Garena Free Fire Max and start playing. Despite some lags, the phone does a great job of delivering a great gaming experience.

Battery and charger

Redmi A1 Plus is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. The battery life is quite long as it is integrated with the main hardware and operating system of the phone.

The smartphone battery easily lasts for two days with moderate use, which includes sending and receiving WhatsApp messages for about two hours each day, browsing the web, listening to music, taking pictures, and viewing content. If you use a more efficient battery backup system, you should have no problem getting up to three days.

The smartphone can be fully charged in less than three hours using a 10W charger.

Redmi A1 + price in Bangladesh

Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus is not officially available in Bangladesh yet. The price of this phone is INR 7,499 or INR 9253 in the Indian market. However, the official price of Redmi A1+ in Bangladesh may vary due to taxes and other factors.

result

The manufacturer has packed this phone with all the important features consumers would expect to see in a smartphone at an affordable price without compromising the overall performance of the device. Some features like a wide chin, frame and VGA camera on the back can be upgraded for a better experience.

Overall, the Redmi A1+ offers a standard budget experience. Those who pass by a regular phone can consider the Xiaomi Redmi A1 +.
