Vivo X Fold+ and Vivo X Fold are almost identical. Both devices have a foldable design and are similar in size and weight. The only difference is that the X Fold+ comes in a new red color along with the standard blue and ash options. Despite the second attempt, Vivo failed to improve the water resistance of its foldable smartphones, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, which have an IPX8 water resistance rating.

Similarities between the two phones also remain in terms of their specifications. The screen on both phones has a 6.53-inch diagonal resolution of 2520 x 1080, the foldable inner screen has a resolution of 2160 x 1916, and the 8.03-inch screen is ultra-thin glass. Both screens are AMOLED panels (LTPO for internal display), with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a hole for the front camera.

The primary camera of both phones is a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with f/1.75 aperture and OIS. It also has a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 114-degree field of view, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with a 47mm lens, and an 8-megapixel periscope camera with optical image stabilization, 5x optical zoom, and 60x super zoom. The two front cameras have 16 megapixel sensors. Like the X Fold, the X Fold+ uses Zeiss T* coating for the camera lenses.

So what is the difference between the two phones? First, the Vivo X Fold+ is powered by the latest and most powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, unlike the X Fold which uses the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Both phones have 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and are available in 256GB and 512GB storage configurations. This memory should be enough for many users as there is no microSD card slot for memory expansion. Another difference is battery capacity. The new model is equipped with a 4730 mAh battery, which is more than the previous 4600 mAh. It also supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, while the Vivo X Fold supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The phones have Bluetooth 5.2 and support Qualcomm aptX and Sony LDAC codecs. It also has NFC, Wi-Fi 6, a Type-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 1), a physical mute switch and fingerprint scanners under the cover and under the display. Although the Vivo Xfold+ was launched after the release of Android 13, it runs OriginOS based on Android 12 like its sibling. Both phones are expected to be exclusive to China. The Vivo X Fold+ is priced at 9,999 yen (~$1,388) for the 256GB model and 10,999 yen (~$1,527) for the 512GB model, which is 1,000 yen ($140) more than the price of the Vivo X Fold.
